To Gather Festival 2025

A small scale and co-creative community festival where we celebrate being human

When the sun is high in the sky and nature is flourishing all around us, on the longest day of the year, we invite you to join us at To Gather Festival.

Play with who you are or think you are and embrace imperfection and simplicity. Connect with all sides of yourself, others and nature around you out of curiosity. And co-create workshops, activities, meals, music, decoration, campfire or anything else you would like to bring to the community.

Whoever you are, whatever you can do, whatever brings you joy, you're welcome to share it with us. Together we create a community where freedom, play, and connection take center stage.

Our Vision

In a society that is increasingly focused on the individual and performance, we want to move towards collective resilience. We believe that this can be achieved by creating an environment in which people can be themselves, discover themselves, show themselves.

During To Gather Festival we practice such a society.

For five days we come together with a group of up to 70 people. A group that is not yet a group, does not yet have its own culture with embedded values and norms, where everything can still arise. An empty canvas. But over the course of five days, that canvas is slowly filled, with each person adding their own color.

We are not there to consume, but to participate and carry the festival together.

Because when we all experience ownership, we create a resilient environment in which we take care of ourselves, others and the world around us. 🌍πŸͺΆ

What's It All About

Connection

Connect with yourself, nature, and the people around you without judgement or distance, from a place of compassion and love.

Co-create

Everyone contributes their part to the festival. A workshop, a performance, an artwork, a campfire, or a meal: all input is welcome.

Play

Play with who you are and who you think you are. Feel free to experiment with your ideas and talents. Nothing is too crazy.

"A dream you dream together is reality." - John Lennon

The Concept

Co-Creation

One of things we co-create is the program. All activities, workshops, games and acts come from the participants and we create the program together at the festival.

Participation

Everyone is asked to participate. You can do this by taking a shift at the bar or assisting with meal preparation among others. You're invited to add your gifts and talents in a way that suits you best!

To Gather is a space for creativity, experimentation, and collaboration: we encourage participants to step out their comfort zone and share their passion - even if you're not an "expert" yet. And just to emphasise: if you don't want to give a workshops/lecture/act you're still more than welcome to join the community, as anything shared is only worthwhile when it is received!

"Together we create the world, together we create To Gather"

    Program

So unlike most festivals, we don’t have a preset program for To Gather because we will create the program together in the moment. But how will we do that?

We will use a framework based on Open Space Technology: a method developed by Harrison
Owen that provides just enough structure for creativity and chaos to emerge and allows a group to self-organize. Harrison Owen was a conference organizer and while he tried his best to design the most interesting programs, participants used to tell him that the best conversations, new insights and connections were gained during the coffee breaks. So it became his aim to design a structure that makes a conference feel like one big coffee break, focusing on a central theme, and allowing the group to self-organize. And that is how Open Space Technology was created.

So how do we apply this practically at To Gather? We will have a big program board with different time slots and locations. If you would like to host a workshop, conversation or activity, you can put your name and the topic on a piece of paper, choose a timeslot and location, and pin it on the board!

“In a society that is driven by individual success and perfection, how can we cultivate
an attitude of curiosity and play?”

    Dates

    Wednesday June 18

It all starts! We will build up the festival together during the day (helping hands and creative minds are needed) and we will open the festival in an opening ceremony in the evening.

    Thursday - Saturday 19th - 21st

will be filled with music, activities, and co-creation.

    Saturday evening the 21st

we celebrate the longest day of the year, the Solstice.

    Sunday the 22th

we collectively wrap it up! We'll dismantle the camp, and everyone will find their way back to the inhabited world.

    Location

We cross the border at Nijmegen and arrive at the Vlierhof near Kleve. A residential community surrounded by a large green area that clearly has a lot of love and attention put into it. A playground (with trampoline!), swimming pond with sauna, a labyrinth, countless seating areas hidden by greenery, a beautiful large camping field, oh yes and did we already mention: a PLAYGROUND? πŸ›πŸ“ Need we say more?

    Contribution

The vision of To Gather is to be a place where the doors are open for all types of people, no matter background, culture, age, interests, lifestyle... ánd no matter how deep their pockets are. But of course there are costs associated with organising a festival, which we need to be able to cover. That is why we ask for a financial contribution.

However, we want to give you the freedom to decide on how much you are willing and able to contribute to the realisation of To Gather Festival 2025. We trust that you can make a choice that best suits your situation. Afterwards we will make our finances transparent, so that you can see where the money went. In this way we hope to contribute to an inclusive culture in which a new relationship with money can arise.

We offer 3 sliding scale options* where you can choose what to contribute based on your financial situation and free will. If these three suggestions are not suitable for you, please let us know and we will see together what is possible.

*all options include main meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner), excluding drinks and snacks

    €250

(= €50 per day) | This is the minimum contribution we need to organise a successful 5-day community festival. With this we can provide you with the minimum necessary facilities (such as renting terrain, tents, materials, basic food & equipment)

    €300

(= €60 per day) | With this contribution you ensure that we are able to deliver more quality, choose quality products with care and create a better festival experience. For example: organic food, decoration, and expansion of facilities.

    €350

(= €70 per day) | With this contribution you not only ensure more quality and extra facilities, but you also invest in the future of To Gather. Think of buying a tent instead of renting every year, or a financial compensation for the team. Also, you compensate for the people paying minimum contribution. This helps make To Gather accessible for everyone!

    FAQ:

What is the food situation? Do you take allergies into consideration?

All food and drinks provided by the festival will be vegan, in alignment with our ecological values. However, we are an inclusive event, so if you prefer to eat animal products, feel free to bring your own!

We also take food allergies into account, which can be communicated through the registration form

Can I still come without giving a workshop or act?

Absolutely! There is a role for everyone in the community. Maybe leading a workshop isn't your thing (never say never though! ;)), but perhaps you'd enjoy helping with cooking, lighting the campfire, or building benches on the grounds.

Do I have to stay the full 5 days?

As we care about creating a community, we encourage everyone to be there from the start. So take those days off, block your calender and join us from the beginning on Wednesdaymorning! If you can not do that, you would still be very welcome to join on Wednesdayevening. In the light of community building, we don't want new faces to arrive later. We hope you understand.

We do have a fixed price, regardless of your length of stay. If money is an obstacle for you, please let us know at togatherfestival@gmail.com.

How about accommodation? Can I come with a camper?

You can stay on the site with your own tent. If you want to come with a camper or bus, you need to book an extra camper ticket. Our location (the Vlierhof) is a natural campsite and they don't want too many campers on their land, to protect the soil. As a compensation, they ask €60 euro's for a camper for the 4 nights of the festival. You have to book & pay your camper spot in advance, you can do so by sending us an email at togatherfestival@gmail.com. There are only limited places available!!

What about alcohol, drugs and smoking?

We approach alcohol in a conscious way. The idea is that you are free to enjoy a beer or a glass of wine, but that you are aware of your own limits, and your use doesn't hinder others, or your ability to connect with yourself and your surroundings. In regards to drugs, we are a drug-free event. Smoking can be done in selected smoking areas.

Can I come with my kid(s)?

We are not a children focused festival, in the sense that we do not provide any special entertainment or programming for children. But yes, kids are welcome! If anything, we might learn or get inspired by their presence! Please note that we do not take any responsibility or liability for children. If you want to bring your kid(s), let us know thrugh togatherfestival@gmail.com.

What if you don't speak Dutch (that well yet)?

In To Gather we value diversity and strive to be welcoming to everyone feeling a connection to the concept. Eventhough some of our communication is in Dutch, the main community events during the festival (such as the opening circles in the morning) will be held in English. The language of the workshops get decided by the workshop-givers, though we have full trust it will be no problem to find a language that everyone understands.
